1. Acceptance of these terms
These terms apply to farmbetter’s WhatsApp assistant, mobile apps, dashboard and website (together, “farmbetter”), provided by Farmbetter Ltd and, in Kenya, its subsidiary Shambabetter Limited. By using farmbetter, including by tapping “Yes, I agree” on WhatsApp, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use farmbetter.
2. Our service
farmbetter provides farming information and advice, lets you contact your extension agent, and lets partner organisations run farmer support programmes. Features vary by country and programme.
3. Advice is for information only
farmbetter’s advice, including advice from our artificial intelligence assistant, is general guidance for information only. It does not replace advice from a qualified agronomist, veterinarian or other professional. Decisions about your farm, crops and animals are yours. Where advice is uncertain or the stakes are high, ask your extension agent.
4. Your account
You must be 18 or older. You must give accurate information and keep your phone and login details secure. An extension agent may register you, with your agreement, as part of a partner programme.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use farmbetter to spread false information;
- misuse or try to manipulate the assistant;
- send offensive, abusive or unlawful content;
- try to access other people’s data or disrupt the service; or
- copy or resell farmbetter’s content without permission.
We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
6. Sharing your farming innovations
When you share a farming innovation, you confirm you have the right to share it and permission from anyone you name. You agree that farmbetter may publish it, credited as you ask, under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 licence. Innovations are reviewed before they are published. You can ask us to remove an innovation from farmbetter at any time, but copies others have already obtained under the licence cannot be recalled.
7. Marketplace
Where the marketplace is available, you can request farm inputs and services through farmbetter. Orders are confirmed by your extension agent or partner organisation, and suppliers are responsible for the goods and services they provide. Only pay through the official payment prompt in farmbetter; never send money to a personal number.
8. Partner organisations
If you join farmbetter through a partner organisation’s programme, that organisation and your extension agent can see your information to support you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Availability
We work to keep farmbetter available and accurate, but it is provided “as is”. We cannot guarantee it will always be available, error-free or suited to your circumstances.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Farmbetter Ltd is not liable for losses resulting from decisions made using farmbetter’s advice or from the service being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
11. Intellectual property
farmbetter’s software, content and brand belong to Farmbetter Ltd or its licensors. Content from partners such as WOCAT and Infonet-Biovision remains subject to their own terms.
12. Your data
Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal information, including processing outside your country. Our Data Deletion page explains how to ask us to delete it.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new date, and continued use of farmbetter means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without affecting any rights you have under the laws of the country where you live.
